November 7, 2019

We are excited to announce our November Care Homes of the Month.

Our November 2019 Winners

Dorset – Gracewell, Weymouth
Full house and staff went really out their way to make it a good one. Which unfortunately isn’t always the case. Best session there yet! Josh Elliott

Wiltshire – Staverton House, Trowbridge
‘As with many care homes, they have a very small activities budget but have chosen to spend it on regular Musica sessions with their residents as they can see the tangible benefits that music has for their residents.’ Karen Watts

Somerset – Clare Hall, Radstock
“Clare Hall in Radstock stand out for me. I met some lovely people. There were mixed abilities in the group, but everyone helped each other to get the most out of the session. Hilary Grabham

Devon – Langford Park
‘The home has recently seen some quite significant changes including the appointment of a new Activities Coordinator. We have noticed increased engagement from the residents, two in particular. One lady who always used to sit at the back of the room now joins the group and actively takes part, and another gentleman who used to be very anxious has noticeably increased in confidence. He now also joins the group and recently danced in to one session with a member of staff which was really lovely to see. We took a minute to observe the room during the finale of the last session and it was a real pleasure to see everyone, residents and staff alike engaged, smiling and “in the zone”. Well done Langford Park – very well deserved!’  Kate Grant

West Sussex – Hooklands in Bracklesham Bay
‘Always very enthusiastic. On Saturday had 3 members of staff joining in and residents dancing. AC uses music with them as often as she can.’  Kathryn Tarrant

Bath & Bristol – Griffiths House
‘The staff were ace and really joined in.’ Ant Miles

About Care Home of the Month

Care Home of the Month is an on-going achievement award scheme, and care homes are nominated on a monthly basis by our Musica Coordinators before being judged by the Musica Head office team. The team evaluate individual strengths accordingly to the five criteria points mentioned above and choose one care home to win the award in each territory per month.
