Uncategorized We need your support to integrate music in the care of older adults!

Musica Music and Wellbeing CIC is calling on your support to enable us to embed music in the care of older adults.

Our mission is to embed music in the care of older adults living in care settings across the UK. Musica has been providing regular interactive music workshops in care homes since 2010, and the response to our sessions has been amazing to see. We know how powerful music can be, and we want to make it accessible to residents, staff and visitors within care settings.

Through developing a person centred training package, we will be able to train and support care staff to use music as part of their daily care. There is a really strong link between music and personal memories, we all know this from our own experiences, we may particularly remember songs associated with our teenage years, first love, holidays etc. Even for people with severe dementia, music can still bring back memories that may have been long forgotten. Through embedding music into the care provision of care homes, we will be able to benefit hundreds of people living with dementia.

We would like to roll this out across our current regions of operations: Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bath and Bristol, Hampshire and Kent.
