I recently came across an article in the Guardian, which states that many working mums feel prohibited by the high costs of childcare. Talking with other mum friends of mine I know that this is a common experience, with many feeling they are working just to pay for childcare. I wondered are you feeling the same?
You can read the article here
It explains that the avergae full-time nursery bill for a child under 2 is around a whopping £11,000 a year. Many women are finding that their employers lack flexibility, and they are struggling to maintain a good work/life balance, often having to make big compromises in terms of career prospects.
Do you dream of taking control of your life and having a successful career that fits around your family rather than the other way around?
Be your own boss
The main thing I love about being my own boss is the flexibility it provides, I decide how much I want to earn and how much I work. As my little girl grows up I know that I will be there to take her to music lessons or help out at school events such as sports day or the nativity. It might not sound like much, but for many of us this is very important.
What being my own boss means to me:
- I can decide on my own hours to fit my family and study commitments
- My work is my passion and so doesn’t feel like work at all!
- I now look forward to Monday mornings!
- I reap the benefits of my own hard work, it doesn’t go into the pocket of an employer
- I can grow my business at a pace that suits me
