Hi, I’m Kathryn and I run Musica Hampshire providing enrichment to people in their old age including people with physical illness and Alzheimer’s, through participation in music.
I spent 26 years teaching in primary schools across the country. With the slow erosion of music within schools, I have returned to my first love, music.
I love the challenge that Musica presents me. Seeing the joy of recognising music, performers and lyrics on the participant’s faces is why I am excited to go to work every day. It is a privilege to share the wonderful memories that the music evokes and learn about people’s life stories.
‘The residents love Kathryn’s sessions with the interaction and wide variety of songs she uses. Something for all.’ Lauren – activity coordinator.
‘She has a wonderful way with the residents, responding to their needs and likes. She’s always willing to support us with events.’ Mark – Resident
I was a Choral Exhibitioner at Queens’ College Cambridge and have sung with the OCCAM Singers in Guildford for 13 years. I have sung solos on numerous occasions.
